நெல்லை கலெக்டர் அலுவலகத்தில் இயங்கி வரும் பாஸ்போர்ட் பிரிவு டிச.31ம் தேதியுடன் மூடப்படுகிறது. இனி பாஸ்போர்ட் சேவா கேந்திராவில் மட்டுமே விண்ணப்பிக்க முடியும் என புதிய உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
தென் மாவட்டங்களை பொறுத்தவரை மதுரை பாஸ்போர்ட் அலுவலகம் மூலம் பாஸ்போர்ட் வழங்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. பொதுமக்கள் பாஸ்போர்ட் பெறுவதை எளிதாக்கும் வகையில் அந்தந்த மாவட்ட கலெக்டர் அலுவலகங்களில் பாஸ்போர்ட் பிரிவு புதிதாக தொடங்கப்பட்டது.
திருநெல்வேலி கலெக்டர் அலுவலகத்தில் கடந்த 2002ம் ஆண்டு பாஸ்போர்ட் பிரிவு தொடங்கப்பட்டது. கலெக்டர் அலுவலகத்தில் தரை தளத்தில் செயல்பட்டு வந்த இந்த பாஸ்போர்ட் பிரிவு மூலம் ஒரு ஆண்டிற்கு 8 ஆயிரம் விண்ணப்பங்கள் வரை பெறப்பட்டு வந்தன.
இந்நிலையில் கடந்த ஆண்டு ஜூன் 30ம் தேதி தமிழகத்தில் மதுரை, நெல்லை, உட்பட தமிழகம் முழுவதும் 9 இடங்களில் தனியார் பங்களிப்புடன் பாஸ்போர்ட் சேவை கேந் திரா என்னும் பாஸ்போர்ட் சேவை மையங்கள் தொடங்கப்பட்டன.
நெல்லையில் புதிய பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட் அருகே பாஸ்போர்ட் சேவை மையம் தொடங்கப்பட்டது.
கலெக்டர் அலுவலக பாஸ்போர்ட் பிரிவு மூலம் விண்ணப்பித்தவர்களுக்கு பாஸ்போர்ட் கிடைப்பதில் காலதாமதம் நிலவி வந்தது.
இதனால் பலரும் பாஸ்போர்ட்டுக்கு விண்ணப்பிக்க சேவை மையத்தையே நாடி வந்தனர். இதனால் கலெக்டர் அலுவலகங்களுக்கு வரும் விண்ணப்பங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை மிகவும் குறைந்தது. மேலும் புதிய பாஸ்போர்ட்டில் கைரேகை பதிவு, புகைப்படம் எடுப்பது ஆகியவை பயோமெட்ரிக் முறையில் பாஸ்போர்ட் அலுவலகத்தின் மூலமாகவே மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகிறது.
இதனால் திருநெல்வேலி கலெக்டர் அலுவலகத்தில் உள்ள பாஸ்போர்ட் பிரிவை வருகிற 31ம் தேதியுடன் மூட முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.
எனவே பாஸ்போர்ட் கேட்டு விண்ணப்பிப்பவர்கள் நெல்லை புதிய பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட் அருகே அமைந்துள்ள பாஸ்போர்ட் சேவை மையத்தின் மூலம் விண்ணப்பிக்க வேண்டும்.

From December 31st Tirunelveli Collector's office will stop providing service for passport applicants through the passport section.
The Government of India decided to decentralize of Passport Services and the District Passport Cell was functioning in Tirunelveli Collectorate with effect from January 2002. Hence the Passport applications received in this Centre, are forwarded to the Regional Passport Office, Madurai for getting a Passport from the residents of Tirunelveli District.
At that beginning more than 600 applications per month, Due to the private participation in the Passport Service, there is less than 100 applications are received in the collector office. Moreover the applicants can easily and quickly get new passport through this public service than apply it through the collector office passport section. Due to this reason the public getting attraction towards Public Passport service named “Passport Seva Kendra" Here fingerprinting, photography is carried out by the biometric passport system. Now this public sector is running successfully near the new bus stand in Tirunelveli.
Hence from December 31st Tirunelveli Collector's office will stop providing service for passport applicants through the passport section. The new government order is that public who want to apply for passport can apply through Passport Seva Kendra from January 1st 2013.
