ஆலங்குளம் திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள ஒரு அழகான பேரூராட்சி ஆகும். இவ்வூர் திருநெல்வேலி , அம்பை , தென்காசி செல்லும் நெடுஞ்சாலையில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இவ்விடம் மென் மேலும் வளர்ச்சி அடைந்து வருகிறது. இது அருகில் உள்ள கிராமத்திற்கு ஒரு வணிக தளமாக விளங்குகிறது. அச்சங்குளம், பாலதிரமப்புறம், கடங்கநெறி, கருவந்த , காவலகுருச்சி போன்றவை அருகில் உள்ள கிராமங்கள் அகும்.
ராமர் கோவில் ஒன்று ஆலங்குளம் வட்டாரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இக்கோவிலில் உள்ள அணைத்து தெய்வச் சிற்பங்களும் மிகவும் அழகாக வடிவமைக்கபட்டுள்ளது.புராண வரலாற்றில் ஸ்ரீ ராமபிரான் இம்மலை மீது ஏறி நின்று தெற்கு நோக்கி ஒரு காலை ஊன்றியும் ஒரு காலை தூக்கி கூர்ந்து நோக்கினார். எனவே இம்மலைக்கு "ஒக்க நின்றான் மலை" என்று பெயர் வந்ததாக கூறுவர்.
இங்கு விவசாயத்தை முக்கிய தொழிலாக செய்கின்றனர். பலர் பீடி தொழில் செய்தும் வாழ்கின்றனர். இங்கு அரிசி விளைச்சல் மிகவும் செழிப்பாகவும் , திறனாகவும் இருக்கும் . கேரள மக்கள் இந்த வகையான அரிசியை விரும்புகின்றனர். இங்கிருந்து அரிசி மற்றும் காய்கறிகள் கேரள மாநிலத்துக்கு ஏற்றுமதி அகுகின்றது. மேலும் , இங்கு இரண்டு சோப்பு தயாரிக்கும் தொழிற்சாலை அமைந்துள்ளது.
Alangulam is a taluk and panchayat town in Tirunelveli district. It is one of the fastest growing town. Alangulam is well connected by state highway roads to Tirunelveli located in west, to Tenkasi located in east and to Ambasamudram. Alangulam Malai kovil is one of the famous spot in alangulam. In this temple all the sculptures of the gods are constructed in beautiful manner. It is considered that lord rama climbed this mountain, and stand by lifting his one leg facing west direction to see the view of the place . Thats, why this mountain is known as “Okka Ninra Malai”.
Agriculture is the primary activity held in this place. Most people are also involved in Beeding making. Rice cultivated in this place are of good quality. Peoples of kerala like this variety of rice. So that it is supplied to Kerala. It also supplies vegetables to Kerala.There are two soap manufacturing industry located in this area.
