சிவந்தியப்பர் திருக்கோயில், திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டம் விக்கிரமசிங்கபுரம் என்னும் ஊரில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இங்குள்ள் இறைவன் பெயர் சிவந்தியப்பர், தாயார் வழியடிமைகொண்டநாயகி. இக்கோவில் சிவந்தியப்பர் என்ற அரசனால் கட்டப்பட்டது. மக்களின் வாழ்க்கை சிறப்பாக அமையவும் , சிவனை வழிபடவேண்டும் என்ற விருபத்துடனும் சிவலிங்கத்தை ஸ்தாபித்து, கோயில் எழுப்பினார். சிவனுக்கு மன்னன் பெயரான "சிவந்தியப்பர்' என்ற பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டது.

பொதுவாக தெட்சிணாமூர்த்தி இடது கையில் ஏடு அல்லது அக்னியை ஏந்தியபடிதான் காட்சி தருவார். இங்கு இவர் தன் இடக்கையை, காலுக்கு கீழ் இருக்கும் நாகத்தின் தலை மீது வைத்தபடி இருப்பது வித்தியாசமான அமைப்பாகும். நாகதோஷம் உள்ளவர்கள் இவரிடம் வேண்டிக்கொண்டால் தோஷம் விலகும் என்பது நம்பிக்கை. பிரகாரத்தில் ஆறுமுக நயினார் (முருகன்) இருக்கிறார். இவருடன் உள்ள வள்ளி, தெய்வானை இருவரும் ஒருவரையொருவர் பார்த்தபடி நிற்பது விசேஷ அம்சம் ஆகும்.

English Version:

Shivanthiyappar Temple is located in Vikramasingapuram, Tirunelveli District. The name of the gods are Shivanthiappar and Vazhi Adimai Konda Nayaki. This temple is built by Shivanthiappa Naicker. He built this temple due to the devotion over Lord shiva and also for the welfare of the people.The Lord is named as Shivanthiappar after the name of the ruler.

Mother Vazhi Adimai Konda Nayaki blesses the devotees from a separate shrine facing south. she is also known as “ Marka Samrakshini ”. Lord Shiva graces the devotees with a turban on His head. Lord Dakshinamurthy generally appears in temples with palm leaves or agni the fire. Here He has his left hand placed on a serpent, a different feature in this temple. Those facing problems due to serpent planets, pray to Lord Dakshinamurthy for relief. Arumuga Nayinar (Lord Muruga) graces from a separate shrine. Valli and Deivanai are facing each other , a unique feature of this temple.
