தாழையூத்து திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள பேரூராட்சி ஆகும். இது சங்கர் நகர் எனவும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இப்பேரூராட்சி திருநெல்வேலி- மதுரை நெடுஞ்சாலையில் செல்லும் வழியில் 8 கிமீ வடக்கே அமைந்துள்ளது. இப்பகுதியில் உலர்ந்த மற்றும் மிதமான வானிலை உள்ளது. தாமிரபரணியாறு தாழையூத்தில் இருந்து 2.5 கிமீ தூரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

தாழையூத்து சுண்ணாம்புக்கல் நிறைய கொண்ட ஒரு பகுதியாகும், இந்த அடிப்படை காரணத்தால் தாழையூத்தில் இந்தியா சிமெண்ட்ஸ் லிமிடெட் என்னும் ஒரு சிமெண்ட் உற்பத்தி நிறுவனம் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.


அருகில் உள்ள கிராமங்களில் மக்கள் இடம்பெயர்ந்தது இங்கு வந்தமைக்கு ஒரு முக்கிய காரணம் இந்தியா சிமெண்ட்ஸ் நிறுவனத்தால் வழங்கப்பட்ட வேலை வாய்ப்புகள்.

இந்தியா சிமெண்ட்ஸ் நிறுவனதின் உரிமையாளர்க்கு புகழ்பெற்ற இந்திய பிரிமியர் லீக் "சென்னை சூப்பர் கிங்ஸ்" சொந்தமானது .


தமிழ்நாடு அரசால் இயங்கும் நவீன அரிசி ஆலை திருநெல்வேலி - தாழையூத்து சாலை மீது அமைந்துள்ளது.

மேலும் தாழையூத்து - திருநெல்வேலி இணைக்கும் சாலையில் பல பருத்தி ஆலைகள் அமைந்துள்ளன. மிகவும் பிரபலமான பருத்தி ஆலைகள் நெல்லை பருத்தி ஆலை, Subburaj பருத்தி ஆலைகள்.

இந்த இடத்தில் இருந்து ஒரு பெரிய டேபிள் டென்னிஸ் வீரராக வளர்ந்தவர் வீரமணிகண்டன். அவர் ஜெயேந்திர பள்ளியில் பயின்றார்.

மேலும் இங்கு அருள்மிக செல்வி அம்மன் மற்றும் செயிண்ட் ஜோசப் தேவாலயம் உள்ளது.

Thalaiyuthu is a panchayat town in Tirunelveli district. It is also called as Sankar Nagar. It is located about 8 KM north of Tirunelveli on the way to Madurai highway

Thalaiyuthu is formed by people migrating and settled from nearby villages, migrated mainly because of the job opportunities provided by India Cements.


Veeramanikandan is a great Table tennis player from this place .He studied in Jayendra School.



Thalaiyuthu is a region containing limestones in plenty, this formed the basis in establishing India Cements Limited a cement manufacturing company. It was established in 1946 and the first plant was set up in Thalaiyuthu in Tamil Nadu in 1949. It has about seven cement manufacturing plants spread over Southern India catering to major markets in South India and Maharashtra. The famous Indian Premier League "Chennai Super Kings" is currently owned by India Cements. Thaliyuthu has a cricket ground maintained by India Cements. This ground was specifically used for Ranji Cricket. The ground is located near to the GOVT. Primary School.

There is a rice mill running by GOVT of Tamil Nadu situated on the road Tirunelveli-Thalaiyuthu.
