ஆதிவராகர் திருக்கோயில் திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டமான கல்லிடைக்குறிச்சியில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இங்கு எளுந்தரிளியுள்ள இறைவன் பெயர் ஆதிவராகப்பெருமாள் மற்றும் பூமாதேவி அகும். மூலஸ்தானத்தில் ஆதிவராகர் மடியில் பூமாதேவி அமர்ந்த கோலத்தில் காட்சி தருகிறார். இவருக்கு "நித்ய கல்யாணப்பெருமாள்' என்றும் பெயர் உண்டு. இக்கோவில் ஸ்ரீதேவி, பூதேவி இருவரும் தனித்தனி சன்னதிகளில் இருக்கின்றனர்.இக்கோவில் விமானத்தில் சயனப்பெருமாள் சன்னதி இருக்கிறது. பெருமாளின் தசாவதார வடிவங்கள், சுவாமி சன்னதிக்கு பின்புறம் சிலாரூபமாக இருக்கிறது. இத்தலத்திற்கு திருக்கரந்தை மற்றும் கல்யாணபுரி என்ற புராணப்பெயர்கள் உண்டு.
இக்கோவில் பின்னால் ஒரு கதை உள்ளது வாருங்கள் காண்போம். ஒரு சமயத்தில் குபேரன், ஒரு சாப விமோசனத்திற்காக பூலோகம் வந்தான். இங்கு பல இடங்களுக்கு சென்று சிவ பெருமானை தரிசித்து வந்தான் , பின்பு பெருமாளை தரிசிக்க விரும்பினான். அதற்காக ஒரு சிலை வடித்து, தாமிரபரணி நதிக்கரையில் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து வழிபட்டான். சிறிது காலத்தில் இந்த இறைவன் இருந்த இடம் மறைந்துவிட்டது. ஒரு நாள் பக்தர் கனவில் இறைவன் தோன்றி தாமிரபரணி நதிக்கரையில் இத்தலத்தில் இருப்பதாக உணர்த்தினார். பக்க்தரால் அச்சிலை இருந்ததைக் கண்டுபிடித்து கோவில் கட்டப்பப்பட்டது.
Sri Adhi Varaha Perumal temple is located in KallidaiKurchi at Tirunelveli. In this temple Lord Adhi Varahaswami appears with bhooma Devi on His lap looking at Him. He is also called as Nitya kalyana Perumal. Here, Mothers Sridevi and Bhoodevi are in separate shrines in the prakara.There is a shrine in the vimana-tower above sanctum sanctorum for Reclining Perumal with Mother Sridevi & Bhoodevi.The Dasavathara – 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu- are in idol forms behind the Perumal shrine.
There is a story behind the construction of the temple.Kubera, the God of Wealth came down to earth to seek relief from a curse he incurred. After worshipping various Shiva temples, he desired to worship Lord Vishnu. He made an idol of the Lord, installed it on the banks of River Tambiraparani and worshipped. In course of time, the place disappeared. Lord appeared in the dream of a devotee and disclosed His presence in the place. The devotee found the idols. The temple was built later.
