சுரண்டை திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் வீரகேரளம்புதூர் என்ற தாலுகாவில் மேற்கு தொடர்ச்சி மலை அடிவாரத்தில்அமைந்துள்ள ஒரு பேரூராட்சி ஆகும். இவ்வூர் விரைவாக வளர்ச்சி அடைந்து கொண்டுருக்கிறது.இங்கு முதலில் விவசாயமும் , பனை மரம் விளைச்சலும் மிக செழிப்பாக இருக்கும். எங்கும் பச்சை பசுமையாக மனதிற்கு குளிர்ச்சி தகும் வகையில் செழிப்போடு இருக்கும் கிராமம். இப்பொழுது அருகில் உள்ள பல சிற்றூர்களின் பொருளாதார மையமாகவும் சுரண்டை விளங்குகிறது.

இங்கு 73% சதவிதம் ஆண்களும், 57% சதவிதம் பெண்களும் கல்வியறிவு பெற்றவர்கள் ஆவார்கள். இங்கு தான் D. G. S தினகரன் பிறந்தார். இவர் காருண்ய பல்கலைகழகத்தின் நிறுவனர் அவார்.

சிவகுருநாதபுரம் எனும் ஊர் சுரண்டையின் ஒரு பகுதி ஆகும்.இங்குள்ள மக்கள் முப்பிடாரி அம்மனுக்கு கோவில் கட்ட விரும்பி கோவில் எழுப்பினர்.இக்கோவில் இவ்வூரில் உள்ள முக்கியமான இடங்களில் ஒன்று ஆகும். குற்றாலம் இங்கிருந்து 13 கிலோமீட்டர் தூரத்தில் உள்ளது.

Surandai is located in theVeerakeralampudur taluk of Tirunelveli, at the foot of the Western Ghats. It is situated 12 km away from Tenkasi. It is one of the fastest growing cities. Agricultural and Palm tree cultivation with allied activities are the primary activities of this place.Now it act as centre for complete trade and business for nearby Villages.

Surandai has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%, and female literacy is 57%.D. G. S. Dhinakaran, A Famous Evangelist is native to this town. He is the founder of Karunya University,Coimbatore.

Sivagurunathapuram is a part of surandai, People of this area wished to build a temple for sri Muppidari Amman. It is one of the famous temple located in that place.Courtallam is about 13km from Surandai
